How to start with BSC
Getting prepared to interact with Qubit on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC)
The Binance Smart Chain is a blockchain that provides a full ecosystem with smart contract and decentralized application (Dapp) support.
The Binance Smart Chain is independent from, but complementary to the Binance Chain, where the Binance DEX operates. It was introduced to offer more flexibility than the Binance Chain which has limited applications, and since the chains were built in a parallel manner, assets can be easily transferred from one chain to the next.
The Binance Smart Chain is home to decentralized finance (DeFi) Dapps such as PancakeSwap, Bunny, and Qubit Finance.
For further information:
The Binance Smart Chain's first class token is BNB (BEP-20). BNB (BEP-20) is used to pay for gas on the Binance Smart Chain in the same manner that ETH is used to pay for gas on Ethereum.
BNB (BEP-20) will be needed to perform any transactions on the Binance Smart Chain, and acquiring BNB (BEP-20) will be an essential step to interacting with the Binance Smart Chain.
BEP-20 is the token standard for BSC in the same manner that ERC-20 tokens are the standard for Ethereum. It is important to acquire the BEP-20 standard of BNB, rather than the BEP-2 standard, to interact with the Binance Smart Chain.
If a user does acquire BNB (BEP-2) which is utilized on the Binance Chain (separate from the Binance Smart Chain), BNB (BEP-2) can be crosschain swapped to BNB (BEP-20).
How to Purchase BNB:
Interacting with Qubit and other applications on the Binance Smart Chain will require a wallet compatible with the network.
A few accessible options for interacting with the Binance Smart Chain include:
- MetaMask
- Trust Wallet
A MetaMask wallet can easily be configured to interact with the Binance Smart Chain.
If you don't have a MetaMask wallet, start by installing the MetaMask browser extension on Chrome or Firefox or by downloading the MetaMask app on Chrome or iOS.
By default, MetaMask is an Ethereum wallet, so it must be configured to interact with BSC.
Failing to do so could result in the loss of funds.
Trust Wallet is a mobile wallet on IOS and Android that has native support for the Binance Smart Chain.
The Dapp browser allows users to interact with Qubit on mobile, and necessary BNB (BEP-20) can be directly purchased with a credit card on the Trust Wallet from a third party provider.
Trust Wallet no longer offers a Dapp browser on iOS. iOS users will not be able to interact with the Qubit Dapp through the Trust Wallet.
